Ashley is a Lab fellow and Research Scientist at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Ashley joined MPD in 2024, where she specializes in leveraging administrative data and randomized controlled trials to evaluate innovative policing strategies. In her role at the Lab, she works with a variety of DC agencies to inform decision making, improve outcomes, and create opportunities for underrepresented and underserved populations.
Before joining MPD, Ashley worked in the non-profit workforce development sector at Opportunity@Work, applying data analytics to understand employer demand, measure worker skills, and promote economic mobility. She also has extensive experience in the Federal Government, having led the Census Bureau’s Poverty Statistics Branch, where she served as a subject matter expert in evaluating and proposing statistical methods to improve the measurement of income and poverty in the United States.
Ashley holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Appalachian State University. A long-term resident of Ward 6, Ashley is an avid cyclist who has explored all 36 original boundary stones marking the District of Columbia.
