Katie is a Social Scientist with The Lab @ DC, where she works to help develop and examine policy interventions and programs using randomized evaluation designs. She works with government agencies and other partners to assess services especially related to public health, housing, and use of emergency services.
Prior to joining The Lab in 2022, Katie worked as a researcher at Georgetown University and the National Institute of Mental Health. In these roles, she designed and implemented clinical trials and neuroscience research investigations aimed at understanding the biology of human behaviors—from simple reflexes to complex decision-making. She is experienced in working directly with District residents to study the challenges posed by mental health disorders and cognitive impairments. With The Lab, Katie seeks to translate research insights into improved services and quality of life for the people in her community.
Katie holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University. When not working, you can find Katie at the park with her dog, looking for new pizza restaurants, or exploring the many options for new hobbies in the District.
