Michelle (Shaohsuan) Lin joined The Lab @ DDOT as a Research Assistant in June 2026, supporting research and civic design efforts at the District Department of Transportation. Her work focuses on building strong relationships between safety technicians and school communities. Her internship builds on a year-long graduate research project conducted in partnership with DDOT, allowing her to continue developing this work from research and prototyping toward pilot planning.
Michelle recently earned her Master in Interaction Design from George Washington University, where her work focused on design research and participatory approaches to complex systems. Her graduate projects explored topics including public-sector service delivery, inclusive education, public understanding of technology and platform governance. Prior to graduate school, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Information Management from Tamkang University in Taiwan.
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Michelle is now based in Washington, DC. Outside of work, she enjoys taking walks in nice weather, solving puzzles, and going karaoke with friends. You might also find her in New York City catching a Broadway show whenever she has the time.
