Sweta Maturu

Sweta is a Civic Design Researcher with The Lab @ DC. To this role, she brings experience in applying business strategy, behavioral science, and design thinking to solve complex problems and communicate opportunities in a compelling way.

Before The Lab @ DC, Sweta was a Senior Strategist at Blue State, where she led research projects for non-profits, political advocacy organizations, and brands to understand audience needs and motivations, and crafted engagement strategies to reach organizational objectives. She also led Blue State’s facilitation practice group, where she leveraged design thinking frameworks to run customized sessions that helped teams think strategically, and generate fresh and new ideas. Sweta was also a management consultant for Deloitte’s global & public sector, where she supported federal government agencies in addressing major business challenges relating to process improvement, change management, organizational design, and strategic planning.

Sweta earned a Master of Science in International Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics & Political Science, and a Bachelors of Arts in International Studies from Emory University. Outside of work, Sweta lives in Ward 1, where she can be found wandering around Rock Creek Park, finding new records for her record collection, and perfecting her pour-over coffee method.
